When the Portuguese arrived on the island of Taiwan in the XVI century they called it Formosa or Beautiful Island. It retains its charm despite the fact that the economy and the industry began to develop rapidly. Today Taiwan is one of the most successful regions in Asia.
You will find many interesting things in Taiwan: beaches, forested mountains, sleepy quiet villages, temples and monuments. All of them are the legacy of Chinese and Japanese eras mixed with high-rise urban buildings that now grow even in the suburbs. Add to that the dazzling splendor of festivals, its exuberant blooms of spring warm and fantastic local cuisine.
Try to avoid major holidays and festivals when choosing a time to travel to Taiwan. Most restaurants and shops are closed at this time, but the hotels are always crowded with tourists. If you prefer a beach holiday, then the water in northern Taiwan is perfect for swimming from May to September in the south – all year round. However, the summer is hot, humid and rainy. So, the “golden” time for travel is October and November.
The best sightseeing time is in December, January and February: not too hot (day +17 … +19, +12 … 14 at night), and less rainfall. Winter rains are mainly run at night.
It should be remembered that the dialects in the Chinese provinces are so different from each other that often people from different provinces can understand each other, by writing a message only, as a written version of the Chinese is the same for everyone.
Many tourists are attracted to Taiwan natural beauty, many ancient monuments, as well as a high level of hotel service.
